Care & Maintenance

Tips and tricks for keeping your Gfurn furniture looking fabolous. Be sure to always follow the cleaning product instructions carefully.

Leather is one of the most luxurious materials in furniture design; it is sumptuous, durable and very attractive. Leather furniture does require regular care to preserve its softness, good looks and flexibility. Clean your furniture with a quality leather cleaner and conditioner to keep the leather soft and remove any accumulated dirt and oil from the grain.

Aniline Leather

Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading and discoloration. Aniline leather is highly absorbent. Wipe off spillages with a dry cloth immediately and avoid rubbing them into the leather. Clean with leather cleaner. Avoid cleaning with water.

Semi-aniline Leather

Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading and discoloration. Wipe spills off immediately. Clean with leather cleaner or lukewarm water and mild soap. Wipe off soap residue with fresh water. Do not use oils, solvents, saddle soap, etc. on your leather.

Thick Middle Leather

Clean with leather cleaner. To condition your leather, wipe the leather with a damp cloth to remove the surface dust, dry completely and then apply leather conditioner.

Wool and cashmere are two of the most highly sought after and comfortable upholstery fabrics used in the furniture manufacturing business. Known for their luxurious, hard wearing and waterproof qualities as well as their visual appeal, these fabrics are regularly featured on high quality pieces and come in an enormous array of colors.

There are specific rules to follow when cleaning your wool or cashmere furniture. While loose dirt is easily vacuumed out of the upholstery, ground in or wet stains need special attention.

  • For large spills, big, unsightly stains and general overall cleaning, it is best to take your furniture items to a specialist, who will be able to dry clean them without risking damage.

  • To ensure that the colors on your pieces do not fade, keep them out of bright sunlight wherever possible. Because wool is a natural substance, it is more likely to lose vibrancy over time than a synthetic.

  • Keep a suitable spot cleaner on hand so that you can tackle minor stains before they have had time to set. If there is no spot cleaner available, substitute with a damp white cloth or a small amount of very mild dish detergent solution, which will cut through greasy foods and makeup. Always blot the fabric dry promptly after spot cleaning.

To keep your wool and cashmere furniture in top condition, always avoid:

  • The use of colored cloths to spot clean, which can transfer dye to the natural material.

  • The use of bleach, ammonia or any other harsh cleaners, which will permanently damage the wool or cashmere.

  • Placing the wool or cashmere anywhere near a rust-prone surface. Because wool is porous, it will absorb the rust stain, which is then not usually removable.

Wood and veneer furniture pieces may look and feel slightly different from one another, but their care instructions are similar.

Avoid exposing wooden furniture to excessive heat or sunlight and always protect from warm objects, strong cleaning agents and water. Spills should be wiped up immediately to prevent any damaging effect to the surface. Use wooden furniture indoors only unless it is specifically intended for an outdoor use.

Lacquer finish: Dust with a soft, dry cloth. If there is dirt, wipe down with a damp cloth a dry afterwards. To polish use an everyday spray polish.

Painted finish: Dust with a damp cloth. Clean with a solution of mild, non-abrasive detergent and warm water. Rinse with clean water and dry the surface with a soft cloth. Painted surfaces usually do not require waxes and polishes. Never use oil or any polish containing oil.

Apply soap and water and wipe off with a damp cloth. Dry the surface with a clean cloth to collect any remaining moisture. To restore shine apply polishing car wax to the surface.

Clean with water and mild detergent or a window cleaner. For best results use damp microfiber cloth and dry with soft cloth.

Clean with damp microfiber cloth and an all-purpose spray on cleaner. Avoid highly acidic, alkaline or abrasive cleaners as they may damage the protective coating.

Liquids may leave stains on the marble surface so it is advisable to quickly wipe off spills. For regular cleaning use only mild detergents or marble cleaner with PH of 7, which is neutral.

G*FURN Design Furniture specializes in modern, mid-century, scandinavian-inspired furniture and home décor including design lightings, poufs and rugs. Our roots are in Montreal but our inspiration comes from many countries, every one with its own unique style and craftsmanship. Our DNA is to source and order directly from factories. No middlemen involved. We want to connect manufacturers directly with our clients. Our vision has always been to provide high quality, affordable furniture and lightings.

Mid-Century | Style, Craftmanship and Quality as originals.

G*FURN began its journey with mid-century iconic reproductions. We have all seen these classic pieces of designers, including the Egg Chair and the Swan Chair from Arne Jacobsen, the Barcelona Chair from Mies van der Rohe, the classic Eames Lounge Chair from Charles & Ray Eames, the Marble Tulip Tables and the Tulip Series from Eero Saarinen, the Florence Knoll sofas from Florence Knoll and other classics from Hans J. Wegner, Philippe Starck, Charles Le Corbusier or Verner Panton. Our focus has always been on high-end reproductions. As these are iconic pieces, we have always wanted to reach the same level of old world craftmanship used by these designers to build these products. Our reproductions are faithful to the shapes, sizes and specifications of the originals, crafted by hand. Our Egg Chair for example is carefully hand stitched and takes one day to complete. Quality has always been our core belief. From pure aniline leather and cashmere wool to #304 stainless steel, we only use the finest quality materials and that’s why we stand out from our peers. Over the last years, we have seen a surge of companies trying to enter this market to offer low-grade inferior reproductions. We may not be the lowest in price, yet we source the highest quality materials, craft in the finer details, and deliver the highest value, dollar for dollar, by far..
